Bee Fest 2024

What a gorgeous weekend we had for the inaugural Leaf & Sky Bee Fest 2024 celebrating World Bee Day which took place in our habitat gardens on May 17 & 18! On Friday, Cecil & Joli of Heartland Honey brought their honey, soaps and balms. Marti of 3 Herons Art exhibited her bird sculptures + offered the most amazing tomato and pepper plants. Everyone enjoyed Dan Bliss’ masterful guitar performance under the shade of the magnolia tree.

All in all, we had 48 habitat garden tours and countless bees were sighted, especially on the showy Foxglove Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis) which is particularly hardy this year. Young folks got so excited about finding bees and they had a special coloring station equipped with our native plant/pollinator coloring pages.

It was so much fun that we’ll do it again next year!
